Department of Tribal Research
Objectives
- The Department envisages undertaking comprehensive studies relating to tribal communities of Tamil Nadu.
- To offer training for officers related to and working with tribal communities.
- To evaluate the impact of the government schemes on the tribal communities and assisting government initiatives
- To conduct anthropological, linguistic and other aspects of folklore studies, associated with the tribal groups in Tamil Nadu.
- To organize seminars and trainings programs related to tribal studies
- To prepare updated ethnographic profile on all tribal communities.
- To establish a tribal museum
- To investigate Bio-anthropological and Medical anthropological aspects of tribal groups and their bearing on health and disease problems.
- To record useful ethno medical and ethno biological information on Tamilnadu tribes.
- To collect and preserve valuable material cultures of tribal communities as reflected in the tribal artifacts used by them.
